Keeping Pendelton Park Beautiful for the Community

At the Harlingen Sunburst Rotary Club, we believe in making a lasting impact on our community, and one of our proudest projects is the installation of benches at Pendleton Park. This initiative, made possible through a district grant, was designed to create a welcoming space for residents to relax, connect, and enjoy the beauty of our local park. We thank our President that year, Jake Forbes, for leading this district grant project.

A Gift That Keeps Giving

These benches have become a staple at Pendleton Park, providing a place for families to gather, individuals to unwind, and visitors to take in the peaceful surroundings. They symbolize our commitment to creating a better community, one small but meaningful project at a time.

Ongoing Care for Our Community

Our dedication didn’t stop with the installation. To ensure the benches remain in excellent condition for everyone to enjoy, our club periodically organizes clean-up efforts. Club members come together to scrub, polish, and maintain the benches, keeping them inviting and safe for all park visitors. It’s a hands-on way to show our love for the community and the environment.

Why It Matters

By taking care of these benches, we’re not just maintaining a physical space—we’re fostering a sense of pride and stewardship within Harlingen. Small actions like this ripple outward, inspiring others to take care of our shared spaces and appreciate the efforts that go into preserving them.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We’re always looking for community members to join us in these efforts or share ideas for future projects. Together, we can continue to enhance the spaces that make Harlingen a wonderful place to live.

Next time you visit Pendleton Park, take a moment to sit on one of our benches, and know that it’s there because of Rotary’s commitment to the community. And if you see our members out cleaning, don’t hesitate to say hello or lend a hand!
